So i have to replace my steering rack assembly and been searching for a while now for writeups, none, still suprised that no one has made one yet. My question is do I really have to hoist the engine to pull it out or can I slide it out the drivers side with the suspension removed, seems like it's a bit easier than hoisting the engine, besides some people don't have access to one. I'll start pulling it out tomorrow. If anyone knows if i can slide it out of the drivers side that would be great. The best thing I found so far was damonz description "It's messy & this is off the top of my head... you'll need a fender engine hoist! loosen front lugs Car on jackstands Drain the power steering at the rack (14mm 22mm?). remove front wheels disconnect column u-joint remove motor mount nuts remove rack clamps (4 x 17mm bolts) put engine hoist on engine and pull up a little break the ball ends on the rack from the frotn spindles.. or maybe just unscrew the tie rods... I think I popped the ball ends out. drop the crossmember 4 x 17mm nuts remove rack install new rack by reversing steps don't forget to torque everything!!! again this is the 15k' view of things. I did this back in December when I was messed up on steroids, so your results may vary."
